Summer veg in your bag and online

28 July 2019

Seasonal veg

This is the season when winter veg is coming to an end and summer veg coming in. We are finding that the carrots  (currently imported) are not keeping well, so are waiting for  local grown to be back in season. We try to substitute sensibly and hope you will be able to use swede or turnips or golden beets instead for now.

Similarly  onions are currently imported from Egypt – we grew a small amount of our own to fill the gap but the gap has been too long, so we are buying Organic Pantry salad onions which are fresh and good, until the new main crop come in.

Potatoes – the winter stock seems to have been keeping well this year, but we have bought new potatoes this week – as these are a lot more expensive you have smaller quantities in your bags.

The sun returns just in time!

17 June 2019

What a lovely day on Sunday, despite all our fears about the forecast - the sun came out and it 'was great to see old friends and meet new ones, and show people around the garden. After sulking for a couple of weeks flowers popped out throughout the day, with the bees going hell for leather to make up for lost time, and butterflies everywhere.

We all loved Caroline and Becky's flowers and it was fascinating to hear Caroline talk about Verde flowers and seemingly casually 'throw together' a gorgeous bouquet of flowers of all varieties, including weeds!

There was plenty of cake and cups of tea and coffee, and we all appreciated the chance to sit in the sun and chat.  As ever, thanks to our friends and family for all their help preparing and on the day.

If you didnt make it along this time please look out for our next event and take the chance to come and see the garden and talk to us.
